Every Japanese  parent wants to make sure that when their daughter makes a trip to America,  she is safe.  Here is an English Lesson with a safety lesson to go with it.

When I first moved to Manhattan from the West, I learned a lot about misconceptions and incorrect perceptions that had been influenced by television and movies and the media.

I was afraid to leave my apartment at night for about 6 months, until I figured out that my perception of the big dangerous city was basically that, a perception and nothing like reality.

I can imagine how the rest of the world must think about us Americans; that there are constant gun battles in the streets of America,  how the West was won...

If you are an American,  how do you feel about being viewed as a gun toting wild person who only lives for pleasure by the rest of the world?
    .
If you are from another country,  how do you really view us Americans?

  • Oh this is so sad!  I used to just be embarrassed to be thought of as a "rude and boorish" American.  But a gun-toting thief?  That's worse.  :(

(This is my other Xanga account I'm commenting from so I can give you some more credits ...)

  • Ah, I just got your "unfortunate sole" sentence. Hilarious. I don't give much of a shit about how anyone but my kids view me. In the big picture. Happy Friday.
