  • "Pie In The Sky"

Inspired by the documentary of the same name.

    "Party's Over"

Andy Warhol and Brigid Berlin, probably mid 70's..

.God they were freaks,  this was in the day before someone like this was called "mentally ill" or at least had a personality disorder... I shouldn't say freaks.  It is actually a rather sad movie, however hilarious.  Brigid is probably still alive, the film is from 1999.

I did not take much time with this, I actually did it while watching "Women in Revolt" with Candy Darling...

I don't think this looks like Andy Warhol... it's abstract ;)
    .
( the next day I'm saying it is more likely still the 60's because of her hairstyle )

  • I triple like this. I should check out those movies you linked all over fb. Totally digging the art, P.

  • I don't know how much it looks like Andy Warhol, but it's an amazing piece that speaks to me of identity, confusion, brilliance, and a kind of numbness after the pain.  That black shadow across her face and between them ...

  • The painting reminds me of Francis Bacon. Brigid is still around. Her obsession with key lime pie was interesting. You might like the book 'The Andy Warhol Diaries.' I've read it about 3 times. Has a lot of information about his world.

  • @queenie -

well, some might consider some of Andy Warhol's and Paul Morressey's movies' 'unwatchable' but I am a great believer in always at least giving the soundtrack a listen if nothing else while doing something else, like painting...

    Thanks for such nice feedback!

Thanks, I had to Google him ,I only knew of the one Frances Bacon from the history books and wasn't familiar with the artist Frances Bacon, I really like his work!!

  • @quiltnmomi -

I guess you know she was a huge speed freak. I took photos off of the television screen while watching the movies. Most of the photos have her pupils dilated HUGELY. On this pupil, I just kept making it larger and larger and larger until I finally just swiped the brush down the side of her head... I was "letting my self go" I'm not sure what to call it when I just paint "freestyle"... yea, they had this bitter love hate thing going on... she is really messed up...

I removed the link to "Women in Revolt", it is hilarious, but half of my family would consider it porno...

  • don't know either of them too well to pass judgement - looks cool though. have you bought yourself a beret yet? - all great artists need one! peace, Al
