• I did call Elaine last night, finally worked up the nerve. At first I couldn't find her home number.  I'd changed to a new addressbook and it wasn't there and I couldn't find my old one, although digging would have turned it up.  Her office phone has been disconnected and the her home number given in exchange. 

  
  

  Her answering machine voice warmly invited me to leave a message.  I told her the cherry tree and banyon trees were fine and right at home with the other trees.  I said I hoped she was feeling well and invited her to call and 'chat' ...  I got tongue-tied trying to end the message...

  
  

  No one called back.
