.
Why? This is how it was supposed to go down;
I was scheduled for oral surgery yesterday but it didn't happen.... I ended up sitting on a rock in Central Park on 59th St. looking at the scum on "the pond", pretty green as it was, and the ducks and the big drain at the end of the park...
There is a big drain at the south end of the pond in lower Central Park, like an artificial drain in some artificial natural setting which is exactly as it is, but beautiful... and the wall to the subway going by... at a level that seems higher than you, much lower than the street looking up at the tall buildings through the trees or down at the ducks and the pretty green scum and garbage which is getting sucked into the huge drain....
It is beautiful and amazing to think about what man has done.
I lay on a rock and looked up at what used to be The Plaza, through the lush greenery... and wondered about stuff... I was hungry and wondered where to eat.
I walked to 57th St. and when I was too hungry to decide I went into a place called the Moonrock Cafe toward 9th Avenue where the wind was blowing a scaffolding holding window washers 30 stories up all around so much that the police had the street closed off and the scaffolding was coming down slowly to make sure nothing fell...
...this was something to watch as I sat by the window looking West down 57th Street and saw the police watch the scaffolding come down and the people in transition from summer to fall walk by.
I wanted a simple French Dip which is mostly impossible to find in this town, a simple hot roast beef on a roll with a slice of onion and a side of brown gravy to dip it in is usually what I end up ordering as the best substitute.
They had a hot roast-beef sandwich which only came with chicken orzo soup and it was still to hot for soup...
Finally, she asked her boss, she asked her cook.....
...it is a new moon and I didn't bother to look at the astrology related to it.... but yes, for this price of that sandwich she could, in fact, within about 25 minutes, bring out a hot roast beef on a roll with sauteed onion, that would be great, .... "au jus"....
The "jus" turned out to be yellow and not red or brown as I expected it but I soaked up its jusiness with the roll and hot roast beef and ate all the huge french fries it came with with ketchup and a tall unsweetened iced tea which I sucked at through a straw that was too short for the glass as I watched the police keep anything from coming down on anybody and the afternoon people walk by.
As I was eating I thought about my poor tooth and how it would be awhile before I would enjoy such a nice juicy sandwich, au jus or not.... which is how this day had all started, the second to last day of my summer vacation when I was told I could not have oral surgery yet because it was much more serious than expected....
That all started, most likely, way back in 1970 or 1971 when I first had braces to make my teeth straight....
I fell asleep on my left cheek and when I woke up in the morning, the left side of my face was completely dead.
My mouth drooped down like Uncle Buddy's who had something like "Bell's Palsy" "from driving a truck with a cold breeze coming in on his face...:"
....and had a forever drooping face on one side.
I never actually thought about him this way before but he sure must have been the person to ask, "Hey Buddy, why the long face?"...
...anyway...
None of the adults in charge really did anything about it...
I think Mom was menopausal by this time and stuff was going on that I didn't' know about and I had kind of blended into the woodwork and was living my own little life....
Anyway.... I knew deep down inside that I had suffered permanent nerve damage and that side of my face has always been "lazy"... It came back for the most part but there remains a scar inside of my cheek from the wire and we did go have it adjusted later....
I should be in horrible pain but apparently, my belief is, that I do not feel pain in that specific tooth/cheek area.. I am not a nerve specialist so I don't know but there must be a reason I have not had pain in my root, which was left, unreachable after the root canal a few years back, capped anyway... and left in a "guarded" condition... meanwhile, the dentist who did the root canal, who was not an Endodontist, has left this practice.....
Anyway... according to the oral surgeon, if this infection has not breached the floor of my sinus, he may very well do so in the process of removing the tooth. If the floor of my sinus has been broken, this would explain the terrible sinus infection I had at the beginning of summer, a couple of "barometer" headaches, general malaise, weakness, post nasal drip and even perhaps a bit of weight loss.
I have been to the physician who gave me a Zpak which seemed to reduce the infection a LOT and I attributed much of the lethargy to the antibiotics....
Anyhow... if the sinus floor is open, it has to be closed.
If infection has gone in, it has to be cleaned out from the tooth side and then closed. If it is broken in the removal of the tooth, it has to be repaired and then nothing can be done for 6 months and at least 2 weeks healing time, on heavy antibiotics, started no less than 48 hours before the procedure, and no blowing my nose or sneezing or I risk ripping a permanent hole in the floor of my sinus... as I understand it at this point and this is really not good...
Anyway... my whole point about this whole thing is that I am out in Starbuck's at an ungodly hour because effing Verizon has gone down and I have no internet access at home. I really need to switch ISPs and at this point I don't care who.
The cellphone company thinks I may be able to use my phone as a modem to connect through that but I have to go on the internet to Tmobile.com to find out how to do all that.
I am so totally fed up with Verizon that any company at any prices sounds good. I just called AT$T and they don't have HIGH SPEED access in MY neighborhood yet so they are out....
If I figure out this cellphone, WI- FI modem, blue-tooth, innernet thingy I may just cancel the damned Verizon altogether....
I my call Optimum online at 877 393 four four four eiiiighttttt... how can anyone forget that number, that UNGODLY JINGLE for OPTIMUM TRIPLE PLAY???
I know that by heart so maybe I should just do that...
...This is another reason to fear television, it burns shit into your brain permanently...
I hate dealing with this shit.... What I want to do is switch the quickest and easiest way possible without having to wait or take any more time off...
This strikes me as some type of message from the Gods that I really need to do something today like going on a Circle Line Full Island trip around Manhattan and taking photos which is what I am leaning toward.... Or renting a bicycle and riding through Central Park...
I am working tomorrow and it is Fashion Night Out in Manhattan and I may go to a Kenneth Cole thing or an Aldo thing or some other thing where you see someone to photograph, get a great discount, see a new product, get a free gift with purchase or something.... Vacation and the weekend is not over...
I better stop now and make my day worth more than it started out to be....
Later...
